Intermittent Interac Debit Chip-and-PIN card purchase declines

We are aware an issue with some VeriFone terminals is causing customers of select Financial Institutions and Credit Unions to receive declines when making a purchase with their OEP-enabled Interac Debit chip-and PIN card at certain merchants. VeriFone is currently working to rectify the issue.

It is important to note that this is not a card issue, but is an issue with terminals at the point-of-sale. The issue is not impacting all Interac Debit chip-and-PIN cardholders, all merchants, or all terminals. The Interac Debit systems are working normally for all cardholders at non-impacted VeriFone terminals, and effected cardholders can still use their Interac Flash enabled card or device to complete an eligible transaction.

Lost or Stolen Cards

If your debit card is lost or stolen, you can immediately prevent any unauthorized transactions by using Lock’N’Block.

Once you’ve locked your card and blocked any transactions, you will still need to report your card as lost or stolen by calling 1-888-277-1043 or call the branch 902-226-2288
